Course Goals

This course provides you with an introduction to social research. Its most general goal is to teach you how to think like a researcher. More specifically, when you have successfully completed this course you will be skilled at:

• Translating social theory into appropriate research design.
• Using a variety of social research methods and understanding their strengths and weaknesses.
  
• Using the computer in social science research.
• Analyzing the ethical issues involved in social research.
• Presenting the results of social research clearly, accurately and cogently.
• Critically analyzing social research presented by others.
• Designing research projects.
